I am rather amused at the way people jump into conclusions about Sathya Sai Baba. Even as millions have been able to beget succor from his Love in the forms of the mega-service projects, a section of the people reduce him to a mere magician, a trickster or even a joker!
The fact of the matter is that while Sathya Sai Baba has always said that he is divine, he also said that you and me are also divine! While he realized his innate divinity, he made relentless efforts to help us realize the divinity inherent in us, in which we have failed so miserably. When Sai Baba himself has not attached any significance to his materialisations, why all this hue and cry finding fault with him on this count? He used to materialize objects out of his pure Love. Please understand that a magician never gifts the created objects, for their creation has no permanence. But Sai Baba used to give them away to his devotees! Further, out of the millions of devotees from across the globe, not even a percent of them would have got direct blessings or materialisations from him. Still the millions, cutting across all religions, throng him. There are hundreds of thousands all over the world who have transformed their lives influenced by the Baba – this, I do not think is any magician’s domain!
Human nature is such that ‘super-human’ aspects are not accepted so easily. The same happened even to avatars like Rama, Krishna, Mohammed, Jesus etc., who were all subjected to severe criticism during their life-times. Sai Baba’s life and message deserve an objective and holistic evaluation rather than merely be carried away by his materialisations, which are beyond human comprehension.
